The latest update to MySF Manager, update 9.0.0, is now available.

New Feature
Simple setup
SMSF trustees using MySF Manager will no longer need to manually walk through the various menu options to populate their new fund file with existing data. Gone is the need to systematically complete a set of tasks including the addition of asset classes, allocation categories, bank accounts, historical assets, and so on. Instead, the Simple Setup wizard (under the Home > Tools menu item), will walk users through these tasks one by one and will even create the Opening Balance entry automatically. This should make getting started with MySF Manager much easier.

Existing users who are part way through setting up will also benefit, since the Simple Setup wizard will pick up information already entered so you can continue where you left off.

For more information regarding the new Simple Setup feature please email us at info@mysf.com.au or please respond to this post.

Bug fix
View journal entry on Transaction Reporter
A number of users have contacted us about being unable to view the journal entry for some transactions via the transaction reporter. This issue has now been resolved and the feature should function correctly for all transaction types.

How to update
1.) Before updating please ensure that you create a backup of your fund through Home > Create Backup.
2.) Please go to Home -> Check for Updates in your copy of MySF Manager to obtain the latest update.

For any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact us at info@mysf.com.au

Regards,

MySF

Hi,

This is a great feature, and looked like it would make my (overdue) job of loading opening balances much easier. Unfortunately, after about the 7th unsuccessful attempt to complete the wizard, I've come to the following conclusions:

A [Back] button is necessary.
Amounts entered should be saved
(It seems like some are, and some aren't. The bank opening balances aren't!)

I keep getting an error at the Allocate Equity screen and I've not been able to proceed beyond that point. It tells me "Incorrect Opening Balances", and - if I have Total to Allocate of $123,456.78 and a total at the bottom of the page of $123,456.78 - it goes on to say that "The total equity entered does not equal $123,456.78. Please change the total [...] so that the total adds up to $123,456.78 when it already appears to do so.

I'm guessing this might be a rounding issue (as some of my shares have 3 or 4 decimal places for the Avg Market price and I notice your retrieved prices only have 2 decimal places).

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback.

We can confirm that there was a rounding issue in the first version of this feature which caused an imbalance and error message where assets had cost bases and revaluations that ran to many decimal places. This is fixed in an update that will be released in the next few hours. Thank you for providing this level of detail in your error report.

We chose to not include a Back button as this would increase the complexity of the current wizard. You are correct that some information is saved, such as new assets; and that bank account balances are not saved if the wizard is cancelled. The balances are not saved because the transaction to establish these balances would be the opening balance created and processed as the final step of the installer. Changing this would require a leap in complexity which is what we are trying to avoid with the addition of the Simple Setup process.

Thank you,

MySF
