Hi,

The next update to MySF Manager will contain a revamped 'ribbon' style menu. This will be very similar to the menus in the newer versions of Microsoft Office.

The new menu system is organised based on tasks. Asset related tasks are in one tab, reporting tasks are in another, etcetera.

The goals of the new interface are as follows:
- make MySF Manager easier to use
- help users save time
- help new users discover more of the power of MySF Manager more quickly
and of course ultimately make the tasks of control and compliance easier to achieve.

Please see below for screenshots of the new menu. Please let us know what you think either by posting your comments as responses or by emailing us at info@mysf.com.au. Your comments are welcome and will help to shape the future of the product.

Regards,

The MySF Manager Team

Hi,

I use journals as much as I use any dialogue box. Could we have a tab to Journal on the first toolbar please.

I'm not really a fan of the new Microsoft layout. I like the dropdown menu a lot more than the ribbon.

Regards

Hi Scott,

Thank you for the feedback.

Do you mean that you use the general journal entry screen very often? For what types of tasks? Most of the common events (purchases, sales, contribution receipts, divdends etc) are handled via other screens and these are displayed in the ribbon as quick links. The link to the general journal screen is under 'Cash and Bank Accounts' ("Journal processing"), is this the one that you would like to see moved?

With regards to your dislike of the Microsoft ribbon, is there something specific about our design, or do you dislike the ribbon in general?

The main reason for switching to the new menu system is to more readily expose the breadth and power of MySF Manager, and save people time and effort in the long term by making it easier to find the right tool for a specific task.

The main criticism of the ribbon tends to be that it takes up too much space, so the ribbon in MySF Manager will be minimised automatically if the height of the screen is less than 800 pixels.

We will of course continue to monitor and review feedback and make changes to the menu and other areas as needed.

Regards,

MySF

Hi,

I usually journal property related transactions for rent received and property expenses. I also journal the adjustments to Instalment Warrants such as prepaid interest and interest expensed.

It's not your design for the ribbon. In fact, I think you've done a good job. I find things harder to find in word and excel since they changed things. I'd rather hit a drop down menu than go in and out of ribbons trying to imagine where something is. I'm also used to your traditional layout and I'm slow to warm to change.

Regards
