Is there any update on the likely release to include Instalment Warrants?

I have just completed 2004/05 year ready for the Auditor & by far the most difficult part was handling buying & selling Instalment Warrants with adjustments to Purchase & Sale price for both prepaid & refunded interest & the Holders Put Option. Next year I will have to handle the reset of the Warrants with adjustments to interest & the Loan Amount It is also difficult to handle payments of Special Dividends which count as income with franking credits attached but which are often used to reduce the Loan Amount & not received as income.

I would really like to see these features included in MySF as I believe it is currently the biggest single negative in using MySF as an Accounting Package for SMSFs

I would like to see what interest there is from other users for this functionality. If you are interested in this functionality can you please post a reply to let us know.

We have done initial design and development for Warrants and Options however it has been on hold for the last couple of months due to the need to get other functionality included in the product.

We will include it if the demand is there.

Regards

MySF

Installment Warrants are a real issue for me. I've recently bought some on market and intend to hold them to expiry in 2010 so I will be needing to update the interest and outstanding loan amounts annually. I am likely to use them in preference to ordinary stock (assuming its attractive to do so) as they are a legitimate way of gearing a fund. If you have a look at the number of warrants on issue and at the way the issuance has grown it's pretty compelling that you need to be able to adeqately account for them. I bought MySF because I assumed it could handle them. I like your system but this function is a must for me. Regards

Hi all

A belated reply on this topic but I have made suggestions on this in times past!

I think functionality to handle warrants and options would be a big advantage for the MYSF product by making life easier for users.

Many warrant offerors provide annual statements that do not differentiate between super funds and individuals for interest deductibility purposes. A function that made this easier would be fantastic. It would need to calculate delta adjusted exposures, market value exposures, interest deductibility etc. to be really useful.

As an aside we are considering an asset class comprising warrants as part of our investment strategy. This may include self funding warrants as well as other shorter term warrents. Automation for self funding warrants (to set it up once in advance as far as possible) would be helpful.

Likewise option functionality would be highly beneficial.

Lots of interest from this corner!

Good morning all,

Another belated reply from me as well.

I am in the process of setting up my SF and intend to use instalment warrants as one of the investment vehicles in the fund.

Anything you can do to assist me (and all of those other members who do not have an accounting background) would be greatly appreciated.

Looking through forum postings, I have seen quite a number from members suggesting that the level of manipulation required to work around the issues arising from use of instalment warrants is cumbersome and unnecessarily time consuming.

There appear to be enough challenges keeping up to date with routine reporting and maintenance requirements without becoming involved with areas of discipline beyond those I am familiar with.

Regards,

BobH
