I made an extra copy of the Fund, which I did in Windows Explorer instead of Save As (I wanted to keep a copy of the Load Opening Balances from just before I processed it, but to keep the backup in synch with the real one).

I got a couple of mysterious 'someone else seems to be using it' - but opened the fund anyhow, only now there's only us, and no Sample Fund. How do I get it back without wiping anything?

troubadour

The mysterious "someone else is using it" message comes up normally if you "crash out" of the sofware, or if you are on a network and someone else does have it open. In your case I suspect you may have had the software open twice - that is you have opened up MySF twice, and one is minimised on the bottom of the screen.

This can be dangerous because if you make some changes - say add a transaction and then exit. Then go into the second version and exit - the first changes may be lost. Always check that there is not another copy of the software open if you get this message.

Fixing the lost Sample Fund is easy. Go to File in the top left of the Windows Menu and select Refresh Sample Fund. This will reload the Sample Fund as it was when you first started.

Let us know if you have a problem.

Regards

After signing in (with Troubadour the only option) I go File, Refresh Sample Fund , and get the opening screen with <Select Fund> and only Troubadour is there still. I was tempted to choose Create Fund and then call it Sample Fund to see what happened, but didn't quite have the nerve. Sorry, I seem to be testing to destruction. It did seem to happen when I did the copying, and wondered if I'd triggered some 'only 2 funds' kind of protection?

From the Fund selection screen click on Browse

The sample fund is located in a directory C:/SampleFund

Locate the file MySF Sample Fund.mysf in this directory and click on Open.

This should then be restored - let us know
